Why would you need to use an upper feed on a zipper? With many layers of fabric making up those seams, just pinning in place may cause the zipper and fabric to shift while sewing. Especially with difficult fabrics like velvet or satin. By using this foot, you’ll be able to glide easily over the seam without distorting your zipper.
